At Bakraur (Bodhgaya) a large circular brick stupa locally know as Sujata-garh has also been excavated.

In course of scientific clearance work at Nalanda towards south of temple no. 3 a large number of votive stupas and shrines has been exposed. Out of which a rectangular base of a shrine with four spoked-wheels is worthy to mention.

Trial Excavation at Kushi

Under the direction of Dr. P.K.Mishra assisted by Dr. Vijay Shankar, Shri B.Gartia, Aftab Hussain, Joy Bandyopadhyay a trial trench excavation has been conducted. Keeping in view the finding of a good number of pitcher, handi, lid etc during digging of a foundation trench of the school building at Kushi-Harpur Ramni in Muzaffarpur district where a trial trench has been laid out. The main aim of the excavation was to know the cultural sequence of the mound and as a result the excavation has yielded Red ware pot-sherds which is tentatively dated to 8th to 9th century A.D.

Trial Excavation at Dih and Kot at Urnah & Paranipur:

Owing to the chance discovery of 51 Punch Marked Coins and some jewellery during the construction of a road near the mound of Urnah in Meja Tehsil of Allahabad district, it is resolved to laid a trial trench for excavation at the mound of Urnah and Kot under the direction of Dr. P.K.Mishra assisted by Shri Anil Tiwary , Shri B. Gartia, Aftab Hussain, Avinash Kuamr and K.K. Jha. The main object was to establish the cultural sequence and prepare an index of the site. During the excavation the potsherds of Red ware has been recovered. It is observed that the mound is badly disturbed by the villagers for the purpose of cultivation. At the Kot site a brick wall of late medieval period has been exposed which was plastered with lime.

Scientific clearance work at Nalanda :

As a result of the scientific digging in front of the temple no.14 it is revealed that, originally the temple was approachable through a brick-built staircase from the eastern side as indicated after exposing a flight of four broad steps recently. Each step is consisting of three coarses of bricks having a maximum width and height of 42 cm and 18 cm respectively. The upper coarse of bricks are arranged in recession for about 7 cm. above the lower two coarses. The size of bricks are measured as 38 cm x 26 cm x 7 cm. It also seems that the staircase was concealed later on by a ramp with the pavement of bricks & lime plaster over it which is noticed in patches.

Moreover, the upper circumambulatory path accessible through a flight of three steps built of burnt bricks has also been got cleared. The staircase is fronted by a Chandrashila i.e a doorstep adorned in the shape of  half lunet has been re-exposed and it is worthy to be mentioned so far the temple architecture at Nalanda is concerned. This Chandrashila is akin to that found at monastery no. 1 B and 11. As per the close resemblance of all the three Chandrashila and same working level of monastery no. 1B & fifth successive accumulations of temple no. 3, the Chandrashila of temple no.14 may be ascribed to circa 6th century A.D. Subsequently the Chandrashila also get concealed by the circumambulatory path constructed of brick jelly and lime plaster most probably during the Pala period.

Apart from this, remains of a good number of shrines and platforms have been unearthed in the area infront of monastery no. 6 and south-eastern side of temple no. 12. Among which mention may be made of remnants of a wall of 55 cm. width which encloses the base portion of a good number of shrines . In these shrines re-use of building materials have also been observed. Towards its southern side another shrine built on a raised platform has also been exposed and finding of a beautiful amlaka of granite stone indicates about the existence of a huge temple, though its Sikhara portion is collapsed now.
